Her mother sighed in frustration. "Well, it's time for you to start taking some responsibility around here. You can't expect me to clean up after you all the time."

Sarah rolled her eyes. "I'll do it later, okay? I'm busy right now."

Her mother shook her head. "No, you need to clean up this mess now. And while you're at it, maybe you can actually learn how to cook something for yourself."

Sarah groaned and reluctantly began to tackle the dirty dishes, feeling resentful of her mother's nagging. As she scrubbed at a particularly stubborn pan, she couldn't help but feel annoyed at the unfairness of it all. Why did she have to be the one to do all the work?

Meanwhile, her mother watched her daughter grumble and complain as she cleaned, and couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. Maybe she was being too hard on Sarah. After all, she was only fifteen, and she had a lot on her plate with school and everything else.

Sarah nodded, feeling a little sheepish. "I know, Mom. I'll try to do better."

Her mother gave her a hug. "I know you will, sweetheart. And I'll try to be more patient with you, too."

As they embraced, Sarah felt a sense of warmth and understanding wash over her. Maybe her mother wasn't so bad after all. And maybe, just maybe, she could learn to take on these responsibilities and become more independent. It wouldn't be easy, but with her mother's support, she knew she could do it.
